Another season has come and gone. And since this year's winner was seemingly a foregone conclusion since the callback episode, I'm going to use this post to talk more about why So You Think You Can Dance needs to ride off into the sunset. Spoilers after the jump.

Season Eleven, Week Nine: Top Four Performances
It's almost time to say goodbye: the final cut of the season.
Friday, August 22, 2014
Season Eleven, Week Eight: Top Six Performances
Welp, I'm ready for this season to be over. You too? Great, come cut with me!

Season Eleven, Week Seven: Top Eight Performances
It's a Michael Jackson tribute week, which is both wonderful and horrifying... wonderful because, duh, it's Michael Jackson, and horrifying because there was nothing as special about this "tribute" as Michael was to the world. Time to cut.

Season Eleven, Week Six: Top Ten Performances
The top ten gets pared down to a top eight with the first really awful elimination of the season. Lots of things get overpraised, Nigel congratulates himself some more, and if you're taking shots every time someone says the word "Emmy" then you're freaking wasted!

Season Eleven, Week Five: Top Fourteen Performances
This week was almost universally very strong. Dancers I'd come to pretty much despise stepped it up, and it made for a great episode of television. Plus, the top ten is revealed!

Season Eleven, Week Four: Top Sixteen Performances
In which I don't understand who is voting for Jessica.

Season Eleven, Week Three: Top Eighteen Performances
I couldn't possibly be more over the judging on this show. I'll touch more on this when I get to my thoughts on the night's final number, but the vast overpraising these people receive is absurd, to the point that I'm just assuming the judges make notes on the rehearsal and don't even watch the live performance. The discrepancy is just that big. Anyway, let's get to it.

Season Eleven, Week Two: Top Twenty Elimination
Some disasters. Some clever choreography. Some fun performances. And some bitchiness.

Season Eleven, Week One: Top Twenty Performances
Despite So You Think You Can Dance overstaying its welcome by about three seasons at this point, here we are again! Last night's first performance episode wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be; there are actually some really talented dancers doing some good choreography. And also there was crap.

Season Ten, Week Ten: Final Four Performances
It's the final cut of the season! And quite possibly the final cut ever, considering how low this year's ratings went!

Season Ten, Week Nine: Top Six Performances
This is the part of the season where I start checking out mentally, so I'm probably a little rougher on the routines than usual... but it's my blog, so whatever.

Season Ten, Week Eight: Top Eight Performances
Let me start by saying this: Cat Deeley's stylist needs to be fired. Whoever he/she is, he/she typically does stellar work and makes Cat look her gorgeous, effervescent, contagiously smiley self. But what the hell happened last night with that harsh, slicked back hair and dark dress? It was like Cat was going to a funeral. Maybe she knows something about the fate of this show that we don't...

Season Ten, Week Seven: Top Ten Performances
Finally, a decent episode with some memorable choreography! Even though it was topped off by a crap call on the elimination, the rest of the episode was kind of... good.

Season Ten, Week Six: Top Twelve Performances
Hey, remember when this show was good?! Good thing you have those memories, because it's not now.
Another tired, underwhelming, borderline sleep-inducing episode of So You Think You Can Dance has come and gone. Tucker is this season's latest casualty; he sat out his partner dance due to a knee infection (what?!), but was magically well enough to dance for his life upon landing in the bottom three. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.

Season Ten, Week Five: Top Fourteen Performances
I love Anna Kendrick. Like, I'm basically obsessed with her. I just wish she did this entire episode in character as Fritzy from Camp (if you don't know this movie, drop everything and watch it now) and tore some bitches up, because some of them deserved it. And also because she wasn't that great of a judge: cute and kinda funny, but too effusive and overly complimentary. Let's just get Christina Applegate up there every week to tell everyone how it is and give constructive, informed critiques. Somebody's gotta do it, 'cause it sure as hell isn't gonna be Nigel or Mary.

Season Ten, Week Four: Top Sixteen Performances
Due to a general sense of being fed up with the show and caring less and less each week about its future, my comments on the remainder of the season will likely be brief, for the most part. I just have very little to say about stale, recycled routines, and the judges' manipulation is becoming unbearable to the point that I don't enjoy watching this show the way I used to. Still, I will not be giving unfair critiques. I don't hate everything for the sake of hating it. Every time I dislike something, I will still attempt to give reasons for it. I just don't want to put more energy into this tired old dog than it deserves.

Season Ten, Week Three: Top Eighteen Performances
It's nice to know that at least one show on the air listens to its fans. After an uproar last week over the insanely stupid format of eliminating a dancer at the beginning and expecting him/her to still dance later, the bottom three guys and girls will now dance for their lives at the beginning and then be eliminated at the end. Not perfect, but a little better. Even still, I'm going to do the bottom six/elimination comments at the end of the post, rather than in the order they occurred on the show.

Season Ten, Week Two: Top Twenty Performances Redux/First Elimination
Ok, what the hell is with this season? This elimination process makes no sense. Last season was annoying, with two dancers learning choreography and performing, only to then learn at the episode's close that they had been eliminated; but eliminating someone at the beginning of the episode, and then still expecting them to dance as if nothing happened is absurd. If I were on the show, I would refuse to dance after being eliminated. HOW STUPID.

Season Ten, Week One: Top Twenty Performances
Can we all agree that the "Puttin' On the Ritz" intro was one of the lamest beginnings to a season of So You Think You Can Dance ever? Sure, it was cute to see the choreographers get in on the action a little bit, but the choreography for the actual number sucked, and it was boring as all hell.
When this is your starting point for the season... uh-oh.
In case you couldn't tell, I'm already kind of annoyed with this season. It all started when Tommy Tibball, the only dancer I truly loved in auditions, was inexplicably cut from Vegas. Then they cut that ballroom guy because he "dropped" his partner, and I'm sorry, but as a male dancer that is bullshit. We all saw the choreography, and the next move was the girl lowering herself to the ground; she never should have fell on her head, because she should have been ready to catch herself. So she screwed up as much as he did, and she's in the top twenty.
Anyway, let's get to cutting the rest of this episode.
